What is Productivity?
BusinessDictionary.com defines productivity as a measure of the efficiency of a person, machine, factory, system, etc., in converting inputs into useful outputs. Productivity is computed by dividing the average output per period by the total costs incurred. Or divided by the resources (capital, energy, material, personnel) consumed in that period.
In other words, we have limited time in our day to get stuff done. The more you get done in the day the more productive you are. But it’s not as simple as trying to squeeze a task into every minute of the day. Sometimes going away for a rest and coming back to it later is the right thing to do. You may find that the things you need to get done will actually get done faster and easier after a break.
Learn what’s right for you!
There are a lot of tips and tricks on how to be productive. Of course, you should try to tailor these to your individual needs. What works for one person will not work for another. You have to decide what makes you productive. Basically the only way to do that is by trial and error.
Stick with what works
Once you find what works best for you make a commitment to use that system. Of course it is okay to tweak and refine the process. It is also perfectly acceptable to try a new way occasionally. Just remember to come back to what works if the new way is found lacking.
